Doing Good

Finally, I got around to documenting a couple of little quilts that have been done for a couple of weeks now! What a joy to finish a quilt for do.Good Stitches and hand it off to a group that could use it!

This is the back before binding.  I guess I did not get a picture of it when it was all done.

It was such a pleasure to put this one together.  I received the cutest blocks from the Peace Circle and this quilt went together so perfectly.

Here is the finished quilt.  This was the best of the 3 photos I had taken. I chose a dark binding to frame the colorful blocks and I think it works!  The pattern was found here.

Here are the two finishes!  The top one went to my sister.  It is the heart string block that I've shown so many times already!  Just a couple more, I promise!

This is the little heart quilt (pattern/tutorial found here) made for my sister.  I did a freehand stitch in a spiral pattern and included little words that describe her.  I'm so glad she liked it!

So, these are my two most recent finishes.  Now I'll be trying to figure out how to make a project bag with a clear vinyl window...like the one I saw yesterday at my church quilting time!  I went to Wal-Mart and purchased some vinyl and some other goodies and I plan to have fun and make this happen this weekend.

And one last photo to share.  Weather here in Colorado is sometimes crazy in the spring.  Monday, I think, was almost 80 degrees and yesterday....

Today promises to be much brighter so I will be thankful for the moisture and hope that where ever that storm heads today, well, I hope they like snow/rain in May!

Have a wonderful day!  God bless each one of you!

Still Progressing

In fact, I have a couple of finishes that I will show soon!

But today is about that weekly Wednesday inventory of all the works in progress that are going on...So, I'm linking to WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced!  Here we go!

This quilt for my mom is finally coming to a finish!  Just need to quilt and bind...

Dresdens for a kitchen project which I may actually work on today...since it is cold and snowy here in Colorado today.  Typical Spring!

These scraps are from the String Heart block tutorial by Don't Call Me Betsy.  These were so fun that I made three!  Pink for Katie, Scrappy for my sister (This is one of the finishes I will show soon!), and red on linen for me!

That is is for works in progress!  Not too bad.  I'm hoping to have another finish by Friday so that over the weekend I can start something new!  Plus I need some help with a planned project.

Have a great week!

Scrappy Sewing

I have several works in progress to share...now that I'm back in my sewing room and sewing again!  So I'm posting now to keep on track and link up to WiP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced!

I just love this block!  It was designed by Elizabeth Dackson of Don't Call Me Betsy and she has a tutorial here.  This one is for the Peace circle of do.Good Stitches.  I think this is going to be a gorgeous quilt!
I liked this block so well that I decided to make more of these.  I'll show them another day...they are almost done.

The other project that is ready to be finished is another for do.Good Stitches.  I asked the ladies for scrappy trip blocks using this tutorial.  This came together so quickly once the blocks were trimmed and laid out.  And I love it!  I think it will make a nice sized quilt for a child.

It is coming along nicely.  It is sandwiched and basted and ready to go on the machine for quilting.  I just have to figure out how to quilt it.  Straight lines?  Stipple?  I have to figure this out quick because I want to quilt it today!

As I mentioned above, I actually have other projects going on right now as well...so many works, so little time!  I'll be looking forward to finishing one (or more!) of these to show soon!

Have a wonderful day!

Works in Progress - the Slump Edition

Hello!

I have some random photos to go along with my WiP list today.  I really only have two projects that have gotten any attention lately.  I'm in a bit of an artsy slump.  The quilt I'm making for my mom is almost done.  In fact all that is left is to layer, quilt and bind.  Quite a bit but slow going.

And I'm still working on my 2012 One Little Word embroidery.  Very slow going on this one.  I'm afraid I spent a good deal of time feeling like it was not good enough so I looked at it often but didn't make any stitches most of the time.  Bah.

I did organize some pins, though!

And I made some plans and lists for future projects, assuming I break out of this slump!

Oh, I did also start one of these printed embroideries.  This is a project from a church quilt group.  I'm afraid I may be holding the project up.  I really must snap out of this!
Well, that is what this post is.  A list of projects that I really do want to finish and this post serves to get me started in the right direction!  I'm linking up to Freshly Pieced for WiP Wednesday, of course!  Have a great week!

Same WiP's Different Wednesday

Happy WiP Wednesday!  (Click the button to see the others linking to WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced!) So many projects, so little time, right?  Sadly, most of the wips from last week are still wips this week.  There is one exception.  I finished the baby quilt this morning!  Just in time, too.  The baby was born last night and I cannot wait to meet her and give her the quilt made just for her!

This quilt is made up of cottons and flannel with some minky thrown in on the back.  I was so pleased at how easy it was to use when I first tried it that I decided to use the left over fabric on this quilt.  I love it!  It is so soft and snuggly for a little one.  I hope she gets lots of use out of it.
I also worked on a little project that came to me mostly finished.  I was gifted some old fabric that included these little bibs with french knot lambs.

I added some pink ric-rac, pretty pink fabric on the back and some more pink topstitching to finish it off.  I like the results.  I have two more plain ones that I will dress up for the ladies at church to use for gifts.

All this plus the projects from last week:  the Valentines table runner that I started last year is still in progress,

this quilt now has its fourth and final row added:

This quilt is very large (I'll have to measure) and it has quite a bit of white space so I'm not sure how to quilt it.  It will surely take some pondering to decide.  Any ideas for me?  Do you think this would be a good candidate for tying?  I've always wanted to tie a quilt.

Lastly, I'm still working on some Valentine themed projects.  Plus I have one or two that I'd like to start.  And I'm working on my "One Little Word" embroidery still.  Not much progress there.  Maybe this week?

How are your projects coming along?  I'd love to know I'm not the only one who gets stuck and puts projects aside for a year before looking at them again!  Be well, dear Readers and good luck with your projects!  God Bless you!
